Our Prices

We sell produce as inexpensively as we can. Most items for sale are sold at wholesale prices or lower, allowing our shoppers to buy high-quality produce at a much lower cost than at traditional farmers markets or even some grocery stores. The market is purposefully not profitable to keep prices as low as possible. In fact, the market receives money from the City of Somerville budget, the Massachusetts state budget, and various grants to be able to keep our prices so low. It's important to note that other farmers markets are likely not able to offer such low prices because they can't afford to---farming is an incredibly tough business, especially for those that are farming produce and doing so sustainably. Farmers charge what they have to in order to survive! We're lucky that we're able to pay them well AND sell our produce at low prices because of the external funding we receive. 

 

All produce sold is locally and organically grown. Being reliable customers to a variety of independent Massachusetts farmers is another big reason why we do what we do. The growers that we work with are mostly small, family-owned and operated farms or educational farming initiatives. By supporting these farms, not only are we sourcing high-quality and fresh produce for our shoppers, but we're also contributing to a more equitable food system on a larger scale.
